Ed McMahon, entertainer, pitchman and longtime sidekick to Johnny Carson on NBC's 'The Tonight Show' died today at the age of 86 in Los Angeles. McMahon had been ill in recent years with a series of medical problems.
He is survived by his wife and family, who were by his side when he died today at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to NBC and his longtime publicist Howard Bragman.

McMahon also served as a Marine pilot in the Korean War, flying over 80 combat missions, earning air medals for his service.
