Russian businessman and former Soviet-era military officer Viktor Bout was convicted today of attempting to sell surface-air-missiles, firearms and other militiary weapons to U.S. agents in an undercover sting operation. Bout was arrested in Thailand in 2008 and was extradited to the United States in 2010 to face the charges.
In a New York Federal Court today a jury returned a verdict finding the former Soviet military officer guilty on four counts related to the case.
Sentencing was scheduled for early Feburary 2012. Bout faces 25 years to life in prison.
